Joanna is available to hire as an accompanist in Bishop’s Stortford, specialising in choral accompaniment. She is an able and instinctive accompanist, with a variety of experience in many areas. Besides a large number of one-off engagements to accompany instrumentalists, singers and groups in exams, competitions, concerts, weddings and rehearsals, Joanna was the accompanist of Sawtry Chorale 2006-2011 and again in 2018, Leicester Music Festival in 2017, Peterborough Voices in 2011, Peterborough Music Festival (one of the official accompanists) in 2011 and Peterborough Youth Choir (now Peterborough Young Singers) 2005-2006.
Joanna started playing the piano at the age of 7 and went on to achieve a Distinction in Grade 8 Piano (ABRSM) in 2005. She is an Associate of Trinity College London, having gained a Distinction in her Piano Performance Diploma in 2011. She studied piano with celebrated collaborative pianist Joseph Middleton for 2 years of her BMus at the University of Birmingham and attained a 2:1 in her last piano recital there.
At the University of Birmingham, Joanna accompanied several fellow music students’ recitals and auditions. She was also the accompanist for many groups’ rehearsals, including the University Chorus, Chamber Choir, Gilbert & Sullivan Society, and Summer Festival Operas 2012, 2013 & 2014.
In 2011, Joanna performed as the pianist with the City of Peterborough Symphony Orchestra in their concert of Shostakovich’s 5th Symphony. She has also competed successfully as a pianist (and accompanied many other performers) in the Peterborough Music Festival, becoming the runner-up Peterborough Young Musician of the Year 2010. Joanna has played keyboard in various musical theatre pits, and played one of two pianos in Peterborough Gilbert & Sullivan Players' concert of The Mikado in September 2017.
